How to get rid of 4shared
4Shared program can be a bear to uninstall. I actually had to write the company to figure out how to get it out of my computer (and even after uninstall, I had to reset my homepage, which was still set to a 4shared google type search page).
You're not going to find it (at least I didn't) in your program files to add or remove it. And if the below steps don't work, you will probably have to do a search for all 4shared files and manually delete them (but I'm sure they have some of them that install under "other" names than 4shared so that it's hard to find them.
It's almost like a virus - it resets your homepage, sets in a search engine toolbar, and is very difficult to get rid of. Here are some things which may help you uninstall the 4shared program. Also included is company contact information.
To uninstall, you will probably have to take about 3-4 different steps:
1) try to uninstall the program itself (directions below)
2) Uninstall the tool bar (directions below)
3) Get rid of the 4shared search engine tool box (instructions below).
4) Reset your homepage away from 4shared (please google how to reset your homepage)
Each part of the program needs to be done and there may be other ways this program has invaded that I do not know about here.
How to Remove 4shared program
Step 1 - Uninstall the Program itself
1) Go to your computer's MAIN Start menu (big green button on left side of screen if you have a Microsoft OS system),
2) Choose the tab 'All programs' and find the folder 4shared services in the list.
3) Choose 4shared Desktop and press uninstall.
4) Restart your system.
Remove toolbar and search engine from internet explorer
Step 2 - Uninstall the 4shared Toolbar
1) In Firefox click Tools -> Addons -> Highlight 4hared and disable it, then restart your browser. The company 4hared told me to "hide" it. These were THEIR directions:
"Go to View> Toolbars and one needs to be unchecked."
In internet explorer, you can click on the little arrow next to your search engine box (its a drop down arrow next to an icon of a magnifying glass). See the picture with the red arrow on it for details.
Once you've located the drop down arrow, go to the bottom of the drop down list and click "manage search providers"
Now click "toolbars" see if the 4shared toolbar is installed, and if so, click "disable"
**Note** this is also the step in instructions below for removing the 4shared search engine. If you click "search engine" you will be able to see it to remove it.
**Note** I'm not sure if this actually removes the toolbar from your internet explorer.
Here are the details the company 4shared gave me to remove the toolbar from ie and other browsers:
"In IE the toolbar can be customized through right-click on it selecting 'Customize command bar' or something like that.
To remove the 4shared Toolbar from Apple Mac. Safari browsers, open the
Finder application and browse to Applications. Scroll down to Toolbars and
click on 4shared Toolbar. Double click on Uninstall. Fill in the User name
& Password and click the OK button. For more information, please refer to
your Safari help documentation."
Removing a search engine in mozilla firefox
Step 3 - Uninstall 4shared Search Engine
This will help you uninstall search engines in your browser.
in Mozilla Firefox:
1) Up at the top left corner where you see the search engine box, click the drop down menu arrow on the right side of the box (see picture for details).
2) Choose "manage search engines"
3) Highlight 4shared and click "remove" (yu can do this with other search engines too)
How to remove a search engine in Internet explorer:
It's the exact same thing, but the little arrow is on the other side, and you have to click "manage search providers"
Delete!!!!!!!!
STEP 4 - RESET YOUR HOMEPAGE
Don't forget to reset your homepage! Do a quick online search if you don't know how to do this.

I did everything per your instructions except how I got it to work is... On the lower right where the icons are...I right clicked 4shared and "exit". Then I went to start "all programs" find 4shared and "uninstall" then it took me back to the 4share uninstall prompts. Then it finally completed the uninstall. just remember to exit first at the lower right 4shared icon.
Also, I did follow everything else and it's all gone. Thank you very much!!!!!

I had problems getting this off of my computer when it said the desktop application was still up even when it wasn't. I restarted my computer and still got the same result. But then, I finally found a way to get this off of my computer and it was really simple. I just clicked the "settings" bar at the top and unchecked everything. Then I went back to remove it for good and I was able to do so successfully.

I'm using Google Chrome and I've got this 4shared toolbar which I want to get rid of.
I can't find the 'uninstall' button when I right click the toolbar and I also can't find the 4shared in the list of programs when I go to the 'uninstall programs' in the control panel.
Please help

Any good sofetware must always make it easy for users to remove it, if they don't like it
4shared is ridiculous im fed up of it ad that its so difficult to remove is most annoying.
The easiest way to remove the annoying 4shared is:
(1)Download the 4shared desktop
(2)Install it,don't tick the make 4shared web search as the default search and as my home page.Leave it blank,But make sure tick the Install 4shared Toolbar for IE and Firefox
(3)Wait till its done
(4)Then,as soon its done as quick as possibly go to start[big green button on left side of screen if you have a Microsoft OS system]
(5)Choose the tab 'All programs' and find the folder 4shared services in the list.
(6) Choose 4shared Desktop and press uninstall.
(7)Reset the Firefox default home page[i use facebook as my homepage],click OK
(8)Restart Firefox and the 4shared is gone{assuming its really gone}
Might work on other OS though.Happy Trying =D~
hi it is very simple and for the other guys who they tried to help you they ignored that, you are talking about google chrom explorer and the way you can remove it is:
on right side of the google explorer you can see number 4 or Shared name right click on it drop list will appear now chose Uninstall and its done.

in my case i had the same problem and i couldnt find it in Control Panel-Add/Remove totally
i found it next to google chrome search bar on sample of 4Shared in little blue box.

To uninstall this 4Shared Tool bar from Google Chrome, just follow these steps:
1. Type chrome://extensions/ on the address bar.
2. Find 4shared.com in the list.
3. Click Uninstall.
4. Just get rid of it and be happy!!!

To uninstall 4shared toolbar and search engine for crome, select 'customise and control Google Crome' from the top right hand corner of the web page. Then, selection 'options' from that and in 'options', select 'open the home page' from 'on start up' section. Done!

I thought 4shared was long gone from my computer, until I mis-typed a URL and "http://websearch.4shared.com" came up with suggestions -- argg....
I FOUND A FIX for Firefox: Enter about:config in the URL bar and after accepting the warning, search for "4shared" in the top Search bar.
I had 5 entries with the Value set to 4shared. To get back to "normal", I right-clicked on each Value entry and selected the "Reset" option for each one.
It worked!! Whew .. at last...

Hey, I've been trying to get rid 4 shared from my computer by uninstalling the program, but when i tried to uninstall, there's a problem, there's a note from 4 shared:(4shared desktop is still running, close it !). well so how can i close the program if i didn't now what's the program itself??? HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
